Job Profile Summary
Deals team of Japanese Business Development (JBD Deals) at PwC China plays a crucial role in marketing, business development, and delivery management for cross-border M&A and restructuring transactions. The team primarily focuses on Japanese clients with strategic goals of business growth, restructuring or divestiture, but also works with Chinese clients who are looking to acquire Japanese business or engage in cross-border investments.
The China-Japan cross-border M&A market is highly dynamic and challenging, requiring deep market knowledge, relationship-building skills, and cross-cultural understanding. The JBD Deals team works closely with PwC China’s local professional teams (such as Deals Strategy, Transaction Service, Valuation, and Corporate Finance) to originate deals, manage client relationships, and deliver successful M&A and restructuring projects.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to support both Japanese and Chinese clients in achieving their strategic growth goals, working across a variety of industries, including automotive, chemical, electronics, logistics, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, consumer and technology.
Job Description
1. Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote PwC’s M&A and restructuring services to both Japanese and Chinese clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior executives of Japanese and Chinese companies to identify M&A, restructuring, and investment opportunities.
2. Delivery Management & Coordination with Local Professional Teams
- Act as the primary liaison between Japanese/Chinese clients and PwC China’s local professional teams, including Deals Strategy, Transaction Support, Valuation, and Corporate Finance.
- Ensure seamless communication and coordination between clients and local advisory teams, bridging cultural and language gaps.
3. Deal Execution (M&A & Restructuring)
- Lead the execution of M&A transactions, including sell-side, buy-side, joint ventures, and divestitures.
- Manage restructuring processes for distressed assets or joint venture terminations.
4. Client Relationship Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to both Japanese and Chinese clients, providing strategic advice on market entry, business restructuring, and cross-border investments.
