Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AML/CFT Consultant to join our dynamic risk and regulatory advisory consulting team. As part of our advisory team, you will work closely with a diverse range of financial services clients, primarily banks to design, develop, and implement effective Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) systems. This role provides an exciting opportunity to deliver impactful solutions, navigate complex regulatory landscapes, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across banking industries.

 

Responsibilities

  • Advisory and Design: Advise clients on the design, development and ongoing maintenance of effective and efficient AML/CFT systems, covering the transaction monitoring and name screening solutions tailored for the client needs.
  • System Assessment and Enhancement: Perform regular reviews of client systems to assess system performance, identify enhancement opportunities, and recommend actionable solutions. Manage project tasks related to system implementation and upgrades.
  • Tools development: Develop and implement risk-based tools/monitoring systems for clients, including maintaining AML/CFT related database to support name and payment screening and transaction monitoring.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checking/ reviews to ensure databases are timely updated for ongoing screening and monitoring purposes.
  • Data Analytics: Develop and maintain AML analytics models to detect suspicious activity and enhance transaction monitoring effectiveness and analyse large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and risk indicators
  • Technical Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and data scientists to optimise AML systems and support system upgrades, rule tuning, scenario development and report automation. Leverage Fintech/ Regtech innovations to enhance AML compliance capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with relevant client stakeholders on key compliance initiatives to develop and transform initiatives into feasible solutions, develop actionable roadmaps, and oversee successful implementation.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with system vendors and relevant project stakeholders in AML/CFT related systems enhancements and upgrade including design and execute the User Acceptance Test (UAT) plan
  • Reporting: Prepare management information reports to provide clients with insights, facilitate senior management oversight, and ensure timely responses to regulatory inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree holder, preferably Business, Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, or related field is preferred
  • Relevant HKIB qualification (e.g. AAMLP) under the ECF on AML/CFT and/or Fintech would be an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience AML analytics/systems, or financial crime compliance/ RegTech in Banking
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or other data analytics tools, and experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Familiarity with AML systems and regulatory requirements in Hong Kong
  • Experienced in project management, system UAT would be a plus
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders
  • Command in both written and spoken English and Chinese. Proficiency in Mandarin is desirable.
